I think people are prepared to spend more money on their pools because the homes being built these days tend to be more expensive. People are doing much better landscaping around their homes now, and the swimming pool has to complement that – the two go hand in hand.
These days swimming pools are being built on very difficult sites, where you've got a disappearing horizon on a pool, or overflows and wet edges. As land becomes more valuable, more difficult sites are being developed. So we're finding we do more tight accesses and more structural pools.
These are robust pools with added reinforcements. You find them sitting on cliffs and the sides of hills.
As the industry changes, you grow with it because your basic knowledge is already there. If you've always built good-quality pools, you'll naturally stay at the forefront of it all.
We're based in Sydney and we build all over the metropolitan area as well as in the country. There are many more bigger and better pools being built in country areas. A lot of retirees are moving down south – they've got substantial homes down there and they want pools to match.
